Karen’s inspiration to become an owner of Home Helper’s franchise in 2015 evolved from her personal experience in caring for her own parents. Prior to this, for over 30 years, her professional experience was in the financial services field. During the last few years in this industry, she was looking for a career change that would be more rewarding, would provide her with a sense of purpose, and give her the ability to serve and make a difference in someone’s life. Karen, one of ten children, recognized that the time spent with her mom and dad was precious and fulfilling. She gained invaluable knowledge of the many different challenges an elderly parent and their family struggle with when they are no longer able to function in the same capacity as they could in their younger years.
Integrity, perseverance, a gift for listening to the needs of others, and the ability to follow thru on commitment despite obstacles, earned her multiple awards in a large financial organization prior to purchasing the franchise. These transferrable skills and strengths, coupled with hard work and a large heart, helped forge her company, Home Helpers Home Care, ahead as a leader in the home care industry, and the recipient of numerous prestigious awards. When transitioning into her new career path, Karen envisioned the caregivers as being an extension of the family when they could not be there, and it became clear that this would be the company’s mission in their stride for excellence. This has been challenging, especially during Covid. When there was a shortage of staff, Karen would personally go to the home and care for the client. This mirrored her value of commitment, despite any obstacles. Her clients are her family and she wanted to make sure that they would be cared for in the same way that her own parents would be taken care of if they were still alive. Kindness, caring, and compassion is the foundation in which Home Helpers has been built.
Karen is married to her husband Michael, and they have 2 children, Rachael and Alison. She enjoys cooking, hiking with her dog Marty, reading books that inspire, and entertaining her large family and network of friends.
Kim’s kindness and compassion began as a young child, and over the years, she has developed a unique gift of intuitively knowing the needs of others, through her own personal history and experience.
Growing up, a close friend’s family owned a small nursing home. Her visits to the home with her friend began in her early teens, when she would sit and converse with the residents. She discovered that often they just needed someone to talk to and she found out first-hand how much she enjoyed these visits. Her experience with the elderly included visiting residents with dementia as well as those who were bedbound. She recognized early on, that someday, she would focus her career on working with seniors.
Prior to her start of employment in 2013 at Home Helpers Home Care, Kim worked for 7 years at Benchmark Senior Living in various roles, including Director of Community Relations and Cultural Ambassador of the Community. It was her exemplary work performance, and commitment at Benchmark Senior Living, that she became the recipient of The Beacon Award for Excellence.
Kim has continued her dedication and passion in helping others in her role at Home Helpers, where she conducts in home consultations and provides input into matching a caregiver with a client, based on their skills, experience, and compatibility. Her kindness, compassion, and support to the elderly and their families, embodies Home Helper’s Vision of being the extended family when the family cannot be there, and the Mission Values of Integrity, Service, Trust, and Respect.
Kim enjoys family time with her husband David, son Anthony, 3 stepchildren, 6 grandchildren, and her cat Sydney. She is an active member of Norwood’s Woman’s Business Network. In addition, she loves to hike, travel, and spend time outdoors with nature and animals.

Pat Roth, LPN
Training Coordinator
A licensed practical nurse for many years, Pat is the coordinator for the in-house training at Home Helpers Home Care. A graduate of Boston Public School Practical Nursing Program, her professional experience as a nurse has provided her with many unique learning opportunities. Through many of her nursing career years she has worked with the geriatric population, working as a staff nurse at The Hebrew Rehabilitation Center, The German Center, treatment nurse at Chartwell House, staff nurse at Rogerson Adult Day Care, and private duty nursing. She also worked at Long Term Solutions, assisting with nursing assessments for clients with long term care insurance. Prior to the closure of Brooks Pharmacy, she established their Blood Pressure clinic, setting up numerous sites throughout Massachusetts, where her role was providing education to the public.
Her experience in the home care sector was primarily acquired as primary caregiver, for nine years, for both her parents, who were faced with long term chronic illnesses. It was here that she gained wisdom and valuable insight into the many challenges an individual encounters while still trying to maintain their independence, navigate family life, and be able to age in place under difficult circumstances while changes are taking place. An empath by nature, Pat’s function at Home Helpers is to support and empower the caregivers through education and provide an opportunity for professional growth and success.
She treasures family time spent with her 5 children, their spouses, and her 14 young grandchildren, as well as with her many siblings and family members. She also loves sharing fun and laughter with her longtime friends, communing with nature, yoga, meditation, music, and dancing.
It was the warm summer days and weekend afternoons in her childhood that Pam fondly recalls spending with many of her elderly Italian neighbors, that helped formulate her interest in caring for the elderly and contributed to her love of foreign language and culture. As a 5-year-old, she experienced diversity at an early age and was able to cultivate her knowledge through her schooling and her 40 years of work experience in international banking and trade finance. A graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard University, Pam completed her post-graduate studies at the Universidad de Salamanca in Spain.
Pam has been working in home health care for three years and works part time as a scheduler with Home Helpers Home Care. Her ability to “think outside the box” and problem solve each situation, provide clear communication, and utilize her critical thinking skills, make her an asset in her role of coordinating care. Her effective listening and leadership qualities are of paramount importance in this position to ensure positive workflow and client safety. At Home Helpers, Pam is recognized for her warm demeanor, kindness, and support to our clients and our caregivers.
