Continuous Care Options for Seniors
At Home Helpers Home Care, we understand that some seniors require round-the-clock senior care. That’s why we offer 24-hour home care options for those who need continuous assistance. Our trained caregivers can provide care in shifts or even arrange for a live-in caregiver if available. We are dedicated to ensuring your loved ones receive the best care and support they need to live comfortably and independently.
THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 24-HOUR & LIVE-IN CARE
Although they might seem the same, there is a distinct difference between 24-Hour Shift Care and Live-In Care. There are different reasons for choosing each one, depending on what level of senior care services are needed.
- 24-Hour Shift Care
This care will be provided throughout the day by multiple Caregivers covering various shifts. Generally this would not be the case, but any gaps in care that might occur would be discussed with the family in advance, and a schedule and plan would be implemented to accommodate the clients’ unique needs. There is no need to provide sleeping or living quarters for Caregivers. Overnight shifts are awake shifts for hourly coverage. - Live-In Care
This care option is where one of our specialized Caregivers resides in the home with the client. Live-in caregivers deliver services during the daytime to evening hours, following an agreed-upon schedule. Occasionally, they may be called upon to assist during overnight hours, which are considered downtime for the employee. Live-in caregivers are compensated hourly, so should a disruption occur to their downtime, they are paid accordingly, and clients are billed for the work time. They will be there in case of an emergency and will work out a schedule to accommodate the client’s needs. Therefore, Live-in Care is not truly 24-hour “eyes on” coverage.
In this Senior Care Plan, the Caregiver will receive regular breaks and meal periods and time for sleep. Some of these breaks will be regulated by the state to help ensure the health and safety of the Caregiver. This option requires separate living quarters for the Caregiver.
