The Road to Recovery from Stroke

The Caring Corner Blog

May is American Stroke Month, and we’re starting the month in San Diego for the Home Helpers Annual Conference. This is one of the few times each year I have the opportunity to share ideas and plans for the future with colleagues from our network across the country.

One of my favorite parts of the conference, the Exceptional Caregiver Awards, presents me with the privilege to spend time with professionals who have been singled out by their co-workers and the families they serve for their example of being “your extended family when family can’t be there.”

One of this year’s finalists, Billie Jo Witczak, cares for a young man recovering from a severe stroke in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley. Watch the entire video and commit to knowing the signs of a stroke.

Knowing saves time … both in getting treatment and in recovery.
