As a veteran who proudly served in both the Navy and Army, I know firsthand the value of service, commitment, and family. Most recently, I had the privilege of supporting Healthy Broome IRT (Innovative Readiness Training) in Broome County, NY, where military medical teams provided care to the local community. Experiences like these remind me why I founded Home Helpers of Westminster; to continue serving others by helping veterans and their families live safely and comfortably at home.
We understand that navigating the VA system can feel overwhelming. That’s why we’ve simplified the process for veterans who may qualify for in-home care.
3 Steps for Veterans to Access Authorization for Home Care
Step 1: Determine Overall VA Eligibility
Before you can receive home health services through the VA, you must be enrolled in VA health care. This is done by completing the VA Form 1010EZ (Application for Health Benefits).
Step 2: Connect with Your Local VA for Home Health Authorization
Once you are enrolled (or if you already are), talk with your VA primary care provider or social worker. They can submit a referral for Home Health Services if you qualify. This is how veterans receive authorization for home care.
Step 3: Apply to Become a Client with Home Helpers of Westminster
After your VA authorization is in place, we’re ready to help. Complete our client intake form to start the process. You may also apply to pay privately while awaiting authorization. Either way, your in-home assessment is completely free.
Home Helpers took excellent care of my dad last month. They provided 24 hour care of him, because he was in the process of passing away. All of the home care staff (including the owner), were top rate, caring, and knowledgeable about taking care of a very ill person. I highly recommend Home Helpers because my family and I felt that they took great care of my dad and were there for all of us.
The Home Care I received has been a great help to me after two month in hospital, Coming home was wonderful due in part to the attention to detail by Home Care of Clairemont.
