Honoring Veterans with Compassionate Care

As a veteran who proudly served in both the Navy and Army, I know firsthand the value of service, commitment, and family. Most recently, I had the privilege of supporting Healthy Broome IRT (Innovative Readiness Training) in Broome County, NY, where military medical teams provided care to the local community. Experiences like these remind me why I founded Home Helpers of Westminster; to continue serving others by helping veterans and their families live safely and comfortably at home.
We understand that navigating the VA system can feel overwhelming. That’s why we’ve simplified the process for veterans who may qualify for in-home care.
3 Steps for Veterans to Access Authorization for Home Care
Step 1: Determine Overall VA Eligibility
Before you can receive home health services through the VA, you must be enrolled in VA health care. This is done by completing the VA Form 1010EZ (Application for Health Benefits).
- Apply online: VA Form 1010EZ
- Apply by phone: Call 1-877-222-VETS (8387)
- Apply in person:
- Find your local VA Medical Center
- Martinsburg VAMC: 304-263-0811
- Washington DC VAMC: 202-745-8000
- Baltimore VAMC: 410-605-7000
- Find your local VA Medical Center
Step 2: Connect with Your Local VA for Home Health Authorization
Once you are enrolled (or if you already are), talk with your VA primary care provider or social worker. They can submit a referral for Home Health Services if you qualify. This is how veterans receive authorization for home care.
- Find your local VA Medical Center
- Martinsburg VAMC: 304-263-0811
- Washington DC VAMC: 202-745-8000
