At Home Helpers Home Care of North Shore, MA, we see you, we understand the weight you carry, and we are honored to become part of your village so that you never have to walk this path alone.
Here’s what families and caregivers can expect when they choose Home Helpers® Home Care of North Shore, MA.
Locally owned and hands-on. We are not a distant corporate office. As the owners, we are personally involved in every case and support every caregiver on our team.
A husband-and-wife team. We built this agency together, drawing on our own experience as caregivers to one another and to our family. That perspective shapes how we treat every client and every caregiver who joins us.
Deep roots in the North Shore. We have lived and worked in this community for nearly 30 years. When you call us, you are reaching a neighbor, not a call center.
Healthcare background. Dr. Bonnie Bain brings close to 30 years in healthcare, a doctorate, and Mental Health First Aid certification to how we train, support, and oversee our caregiving team —and to how we understand and care for our clients.
Caregiving is not theoretical to us. Between supporting a nonverbal son with severe autism, a mother-in-law’s recovery from a sudden illness, and a parent’s journey with dementia and Parkinson’s disease, we have lived nearly every chapter of caregiving a family can face.
Backed by a proven system. As an independently owned and operated franchise of Home Helpers® Home Care, we combine our personal commitment with the training, standards, and support of an established national brand.
This is personal for us—and we’re honored to bring that commitment to your family.

We are Livingston and Dr. Bonnie Bain, owners of Home Helpers® Home Care of North Shore, MA. As a locally owned agency run by a husband-and-wife team, we bring deep personal commitment and hands-on attention to every client and caregiver. We know firsthand what it feels like to sit on the other side of the table—exhausted, overwhelmed, and searching for someone who will care for our family with the same honor, tenderness, and high standards we expect of ourselves.
We work alongside our clients, caregivers, and community—not from behind the scenes. With us, you will always be known, heard, and treated as a person, never as “just another case.”
Caregiving is more than our line of work—it is the defining thread of our lives. Long before we opened our doors, our own experiences taught us what it means to need help, how difficult that help can be to find, and how deeply compassionate support can shape a family’s most vulnerable moments.
That understanding began during Bonnie’s pregnancies. From the outside, pregnancy may have looked easy, but for us, it became a matter of life and death. After Bonnie nearly died from complications during her first pregnancy, each pregnancy that followed required bed rest at home and intermittent hospital stays. We learned firsthand the quiet anxiety of needing extra support when we were most vulnerable. During those demanding months—and in the exhausting days after each birth—we relied on the kindness of family and friends. We remain eternally grateful for that circle of support because we could not have done it alone.
That understanding of how vital a support system can be, became the foundation of our household. When our younger son, who is nonverbal and lives with severe autism and seizures, turned 18, we stepped into a new chapter of caregiving, with Livingston taking on the role of his primary caregiver. He now dedicates each day to providing patience and unconditional love through every challenge and milestone.
Over the years, that same commitment to showing up for one another has shaped our family’s continuing journey of multigenerational caregiving. Ten years ago, we stood shoulder to shoulder as we supported Livingston’s mother through her long recovery from a sudden, life-altering illness. Today, we remain active members of Bonnie’s father’s care team alongside her siblings, supporting her mother in her role as his primary caregiver while he lives with Dementia and Parkinson’s disease.
Our understanding of caregiving does not come only from textbooks or manuals. It comes from living it every single day.
We know not everyone is fortunate enough to have a circle of help nearby when life becomes overwhelming. That knowledge led us to invest in Home Helpers Home Care, whose standards and approach to care reflected what we had wished for during our family’s most critical moments: an agency that could step in and become a reliable, compassionate village for others. Today, our team draws on that proven foundation to provide in-home care throughout the North Shore.
To the families turning to us: we see you, we understand the weight you carry, and we are honored to become part of your village so that you never have to walk this path alone. To the dedicated caregivers who join our team: we understand the heart, patience, and devotion this work requires. Because we have walked in the shoes of primary caregivers, we are committed to creating an agency where you are genuinely valued, respected, and supported every step of the way. Care is not simply what we provide. It is who we are.
