Home Helpers and Veterans First are working together to assist our Veterans and their Spouses in qualifying for the Aid and Attendance and Pension Benefits.

Aid and Attendance Benefit:

A VA funded benefit program that awards Veterans and their surviving Spouse with in-home care.

What is it:

A benefit specifically for Veterans and their surviving spouse to have zero out of pocket cost home care from the VA.

What does the benefit cover:

Aid in Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)

  • Home care services include medication reminders, meal preparation, bathing, running errands, housekeeping, rides to doctor’s visits, companionship, etc...all funded by the VA.

Benefits of Veterans First Assistance

  • Help Veterans and their surviving spouse submit their claim for the department of Veterans Affair’s Aid and Attendance benefit.
  • This benefit affords 7 – 24 weekly hours of in-home care.
  • The VA can take a year to approve this benefit, so Veterans First can bridge the gap and provide care within 2 – 3 weeks.

How To Qualify:

To receive these benefits through the VA, the Veteran must meet the following criteria:

  1. Military
    • The Veteran must have served at least 90 days on active duty and must have been honorably discharged.
  2. Financial
    • Must be under the VA’s current asset limit, excluding the value of their first home and one vehicle.
  3. Medical
    • The Veteran or surviving spouse needs help with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, meal preparation, or walking.
