Home Helpers® Advanced Home Health Aid Apprenticeship
WHAT IS AN ADVANCED HOME HEALTH AIDE APPRENTICESHIP?
An Advanced Home Health Aide Apprenticeship is an industry-driven, high-quality career pathway developed so individuals can obtain paid work experience in home care, classroom instruction, and a nationally-recognized, portable Advanced Home Health Aide Certification. The program is registered with the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) and meets national quality standards. The length of the Advanced Home Health Aide Apprenticeship Program is 12 months. Anyone age 16 and up may apply.
5 KEY COMPONENTS
These components differentiate apprenticeships from other types of workplace training programs in several ways:
PAID JOB
Apprentices will receive a bi-weekly paycheck with regular pay increases as they progress through the program.
WORK-BASED LEARNING
We provide training and instruction in our clients’ homes to prepare for a successful career path in healthcare.
MENTORSHIP
Apprentices receive on-the-job learning under the instruction of an experienced Master Caregiver.
CLASSROOM LEARNING
Apprentices are provided classroom instruction on the critical aspects of their careers.
CREDENTIALS
Apprentices earn a portable, nationally-recognized Advanced Home Health Aide Certification.
USE YOUR AHHA CERTIFICATION TOWARD A DEGREE
Home Helpers Home Care and Blue Ridge Community and Technical College have partnered with the Department of Labor to offer the Occupational Development Advanced Home Health Degree* to all who complete the Advanced Home Health Aide Apprenticeship.
*Degree program requirements are determined by Blue Ridge Community and Technical College. Home Helpers Home Care does not manage enrollment to the degree program. For all questions or concerns please contact BRCTC at admissions@blueridgectc.edu.
HOW DO YOU APPLY FOR THE PROGRAM?

- Search and select a job posting based on your home location.
- When completing the questionnaire, be sure to choose “Yes” or “I’d like more info,” for the next-to-last question.
- Look for an email regarding an assessment and follow the instructions in the email.
- If you receive an email to schedule a phone screen, you have been advanced to the next stage. You will schedule a call with our HR director. She will help you determine if the AHHA Program is a good fit and tell you how to proceed.
