Veterans Home Care for Those Who Served in Columbus, Hilliard, Westerville, OH and Surrounding Areas

If youโ€™re a Veteran researching home care, or youโ€™re an adult child or spouse trying to figure out whether the VA will help pay for the care your Veteran needs at home, this page is for you. Hereโ€™s what we want you to know about us before you call anyone else.

Home Helpers of Columbus is an authorized provider in the Veterans Affairs Community Care Network (VA CCN). When the VA approves a Veteran for non-medical home care benefits, our agency can be assigned as the provider. The benefit covers the cost and the Veteran typically pays nothing out of pocket. Home Helpers of Columbus has been a VA CCN-authorized provider since 2021.

Our NPI is #1609353218. When you or your VA care coordinator are arranging services, this is the number to give the VA so we can be assigned as your home care provider. Save this page or write the number down โ€” it simplifies the whole process.

The VA Benefits Most Families Ask About

The Columbus VA Medical Center coordinates several programs that can fund home care for eligible Veterans, and we work with all of them.

The Homemaker and Home Health Aide program covers our CarePros who help with bathing, dressing, mobility, meal prep, light housekeeping, and supervision for Veterans who need that level of support to stay safely at home. This is the most common path.

Aid and Attendance is a separate VA pension benefit that some Veterans (and surviving spouses) qualify for. It is not paid through the CCN but can be used to pay for the same services we provide. You can apply through your Veterans Service Organization โ€” VFW, American Legion, AMVETS, or DAV all help at no cost โ€” or through a VA-accredited claims agent. We can assist you with all of them.

How families usually get started

The fastest path for most Central Ohio families is to call our office at (614) 268-8061 and ask about home care benefits for your Veteran. We will assist you through the application process before connecting you with the VA Community Care office who will determine eligibility and start the referral. (As a national resource, the VA also operates a Caregiver Support Line at (855)-260-3274 that routes you to your local VAโ€™s caregiver support team.)

Once the VA approves benefits, your care coordinator will ask which provider you want assigned. Tell them Home Helpers of Columbus, NPI #1609353218. We can usually begin care within 24 hours of receiving the authorization, including many hospital-discharge situations where the timeline is tighter.

If you are not sure where to start

Call our office at (614) 268-8061 and ask for the VA Coordinator. We will walk you through your Veteranโ€™s situation, and help you navigate the entire application process. The conversation costs you nothing.
