2025 Janis Siegle Award Winner

MICHAELIA TEAGUE

Meet Michaelia Teague, our 2025 Janis Siegle Award winner. She is studying for her Associate’s Degree in Nursing, and expects to graduate in June 2026.

After graduation, Michaelia hopes to gain some experience in a cosmetic surgery office or urgent care before pursuing a career in pediatric or geriatric nursing.

Michaelia has been a CarePro with Home Helpers since July of 2024. In that time, she has worked primarily with our VA clients, providing critical assistance with activities of daily living as well as companionship to those who served our country. Thank you, Michaelia, and congratulations!

JANIS SIEGLE, RN, BSN, CRRN

Janis Siegle, RN, BSN, CRRN (pictured below) is a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Nursing. Janis’ career in Columbus spanned 61 years and included a diverse history of settings and patient populations.

Her early years were spent in hospital emergency rooms, orthopedics and acute care. After this early portion of her career, Janis stepped away from nursing to raise seven children. She and her husband Bill experienced all the challenges and joy that come with having multiple children involved in school athletics, extracurricular activities and community service—and they never shied away from any of it. Janis and Bill were leaders in their neighborhood, their church and their community.

After raising her children, Janis returned to her love of nursing and served in several leadership roles including: Supervisor for the Heinzerling Foundation (residential care and support for children and adults with severe or profound developmental disabilities), Director of Nursing at Wesley Glen Retirement Community, and Administrator at Advantage Home Health Care. Her final professional years were spent in administration, case management and cancer research.

Janis’ career embodies Home Helpers’ mission of making life easier for others by delivering exceptional care. Her love of work and family and her ability to balance both provides a great example for our CarePros to follow.
