I would tell someone that Home Helpers of San Antonio is very good at accommodating, like whenever we need caregivers at the last minute. She was very good at filling in in an emergency when my caregiver couldn’t come. I like my caregiver a lot. She’s really personable and does a really good job. I have been blessed with Home Helpers of Westchase to care for my mom’s health and well-being. The caregivers that Home Helpers of Westchase hire for the company, have been some of the kindest and most caring individuals that I’ve ever met. Every caregiver that helped my mother had an amazing amount of patience. As one can imagine, it takes a special kind of person to work with the elderly. Their hiring and screening procedures for their caregivers is certainly top notch. Linda, our super caregiver, has been helping my mom almost exclusively. Mom would definitely not have the quality of life that she has now without Linda’s care.
Even the staff members have gone above and beyond for my mom. They have personally visited my mom many times just to see how she’s doing. They even brought gifts of cookies, cakes and flowers. It has been my mother’s wish to stay in her own home as long as possible. As my mother has aged and has gradually needed more care, they have made suggestions along the way. Not only with her physical care, but for her safety as well. As Mom’s dementia progressed, they suggested secretly unplugging the stove. I never would have thought of this, Mom just figured that the stove was broken. They suggested a toaster oven with an automatic shut off timer, a perfect solution for what could have been a tragic event.
Home Helpers of Westchase’s superpower lies in their exceptional communication skills. If I’ve needed to speak to any of the staff members and had to leave a message, they would call me back promptly. I never felt rushed off the phone and they have always made me feel that I’m their priority. I also know that I can text or email them anytime and get a quick response.

In January of this year, I fell down the stairs at my home, I would have never thought this would happen to me. I was very seriously injured and after a hospital stay, I was transferred to a rehabilitation hospital. My family, of course, was there for me, but I knew when I went home I would need care beyond what they could provide with their busy lives.
I spoke to a case manager at the hospital and she brought me some brochures for home care services. The top brochure was from Home Helpers and the case manager had written the word “premium” in large letters! So I called and spoke to George Jones and he said they would be in contact with me to explain how home services work. Before I knew it, both George and his lovely wife Patricia were sitting at my bedside.
I had no idea as to how much or what kind of help I needed, but they were very patient and guided me through. I had in-home care for about three months and everyone that came was so kind and helpful. They trained me well, and by the time I was ready to be on my own, I knew exactly what to do. I’m so grateful to all of them and even though I am happy to have my house back, I miss all the ladies (and so do my dogs!!) (The dogs are still waiting by the door each morning).

It was about 4 years ago exactly that we first conversed about caregiver coverage for my mother, Margaret. At the time I did not know if the Public-Partnerships option for aging waiver clients and I’m writing this note to thank you for takin on my mother and her live in caregiver client/employee for a nursing home was threatening to be a last option. I also want to explain that I had quickly no choice to change from your company in early 2020, as Mom’s caregiver was on the verge of quitting had I not. As you may recall, you wanted my Mom to try a sit-to-stand lift in 2019. She did eventually try that lift in 2020, but wasn’t able to use it. My mother passed away just before Christmas 2021 in part due to inadequate health care when she needed help. The unfortunate end to my mother’s courageous battle against the horrors of Parkinson’s Disease (as she described it) has added to my grieving. My siblings and I have been very please with Home Helpers of West St Louis! Our mom is 86 and lives independently but was in need of some assistance with daily activities. Our mother had another fall at home and was transported to doctors hospital in Sarasota to be checked out. At the time it was just me (her son) caring for her at home along with routine visits for bathing help. I knew that we needed a little more help and this began With having Home Helpers Homecare come to the hospital when she was discharged and bringing her back home and to her own bedroom. My mother was quite weak at this point and I was very happy that they said they could come to the hospital and bring her back home since i didn’t feel I could safely do it. After they got her into her house and back to her own bedroom we talked about having more help for her at the house and they really worked with me to get started on having attentive care without us having to relocate her to a nursing home which we did not want to do. After this latest downturn in her health. She couldn’t really get out of bed. They bathed her in her bed, helped her eat and drink, helped in the kitchen, and told me that they would help with anything that might need to be done. I really appreciate that I was able to have them come and be here for about a half day or so each time with the option of calling them at any time of day or night if I were to need more help.

We chose Redding Home Helpers because my mom’s neighbors have been using them. Thank God I asked! They’ve been so great. They’ve been coming at night while my mom was at home to help her go to the bathroom after she got sick and fell. They’re flexible and work with your schedule and do automatic withdrawal so you don’t have to get stressed over bills when your parents are sick.
But here’s the best part: my mom got really sick and was in hospital then rehab. She had to have a temporary NG tube in her nose and pulled it out her second night in rehab. I needed someone to watch her 24 hours so she could keep the tube in and not pull it out while sleeping. I called Jamie at Home Helpers on New Year’s Eve and she arranged 24-hour sitters for my mom in a matter of an hour. It was such a relief to me to know that they were there for me to help. The rehab couldn’t provide a sitter and the whole reason my mom was there was for NG tube feedings. I would’ve been frantic and on my own without them. So happy with their service!

I wanted to send a note of compliment to your caregiver, Turquois, who covered overnight shifts for my father. I was sleeping in the couch in the living room, and she was in a chair in dad’s room. I instinctively woke up at 2a and 4a; both times I looked at her and she said “don’t worry, I gave the meds,” and then I would fall back asleep. She took care of both of us! He passed way 6 hours after she left. How a pregnant woman could stay awake on a night shift doing home care I do not know…but she never looked tired. She was a true professional. Home Helpers always sent very well-trained professional people to care for my dying father (and help me). I kept getting confused and thinking Home Helpers were the hospice people. They were better than many of the hospice staff!

After meeting Maggie and Melony and discussing the needs of the family which included my granddaughter, a caretaker was selected. During this process I realized Home Helpers was more than a business, but also a very special group of caring people.
Throughout the years, the agency has always put my daughter’s needs and personality first when selecting someone new. When a change in caretakers occurs, I receive a call from Maggie or Melony giving me background on the caretaker and the date and time of the transition. This process always occurs whether my daughter’s caretaker is taking a vacation, or it is a new placement. In addition, Maggie and Melony are at the home to facilitate a smooth transition for my daughter and remain involved even after a placement has occurred. They will call or visit to make sure things are running smoothly and sometimes bringing lunch for everyone to share. They make my daughter laugh and they bring joy into her world.
The angels who join our family treat my daughter with dignity and respect as they care for her daily. They are compassionate and caring when she is upset and rejoice with her when she is happy. As in most family units, there are ups and downs, but the angels navigate through these times. However, I know if I have any questions, problems, concerns or want advice, I can call Maggie or Melony, knowing they will listen, that I am being taken seriously and action will be taken.
Recently, my daughter’s caretaker had a medical emergency occur on a weekend. The staff responded immediately and put a temporary plan in place for my daughter’s care. They also remained in communication with me throughout the weekend. On Monday, Maggie and Melony called; they already had a live-in caretaker ready to transition for my daughter’s care.
The care, compassion and communication from the staff of Home Helpers have been apparent from the start. I see the happy face of my daughter and know she is being cared for, and all is well in her world. The philosophy and attitude of the company starts at the top. This was evident recently when the owner called expressing concern for my daughter, granddaughter, and the caretaker.

After Barb moved in with me and Buddy last May, we were quite overwhelmed and had a lot to learn about the disease and how to best manage the effects it has on everyone involved.

Right from the start when you and your nurse came to our home to meet us, we knew Home Helpers would provide the support we needed. “My parents used Home Helpers for many years. Their assistance allowed my parents to remain living independently for a longer period than would otherwise have been possible. They provided a variety of types of assistance. Some of the features that our family most appreciated were:
Their flexibility. They flexibly performed whatever tasks were requested, even ones that sound trivial but reduced frustration tremendously. This included things like re-setting electronic equipment so that it would function again, finding eyeglasses or other things that got misplaced, and much more. They also flexibly re-worked the schedule to accommodate doctor appointments or to add sessions on a temporary basis during an illness.
Their reliability. They never missed an appointment, they always got my parents to doctor appointments on time (and safely), they consistently performed the tasks that we requested.
Their consistency. To the extent possible, Home Helpers attempted to schedule the same caregiver for my parents each time. This familiarity simplified the situation and allowed the caregiver to build a relationship with my parents which made my parents feel more comfortable.
Their patience. They patiently responded to the many requests by the children to handle a specific issue that arose. They patiently worked with my mom.
Their communication. When we requested specific tasks or when they attended a doctor appointment with my mom, they reported back to us on the status and/or provided relevant information. In general, they made sure we were aware of changes in my parents’ conditions that they observed.
We greatly appreciated the support that Home Helpers of the Lehigh Valley provided to my parents. This support gave my parents a sense of comfort and confidence knowing that Home Helpers was there to respond when the children could not be. It allowed them to remain living independently longer.”

Before working with Kim, my mom was depressed and lonely and we had been unable to find a good fit with the other companions we had worked with. As a family, we had made the decision to move our mother back to her apartment from a skilled care unit for the last weeks of her life. The planned move became more urgent as her condition deteriorated and the level of care required increased. And Betty’s watchful eye is the reason we were with our mom as she took her last breath. That was so important to us.
In addition to assembling the best caregiving team, you were able to lessen our anxieties with advice about integrating hospice and personal care aides visits, maximizing hospice nurse visits, organizing our mom’s room at her home, and recommending the needed medical equipment for proper care.
At times it seemed our family must have been your sole client! You were so vested in our mother’s care and our family’s well-being at such a challenging time. You came to the apartment to introduce each new aide, to assure that each understood the care plan and medication schedule, and often just to check on us.
It wasn’t your agency’s responsibility to provide assistance to us with calls to the hospice agency to try to hasten deliveries of needed equipment, or to the skilled care unit to resolve medication questions, or to bring a commode and shower bench you had at your office. But each time you relieved us of another phone call, we felt supported by you.
Most thankful are we for your experienced opinion that we should call our out-of-state siblings to come sooner than later to say their goodbyes. Indeed, our mom passed away within days of our siblings’ arrival.
We may have omitted thanks for other kindnesses; your and Barbara’s presence at our mom’s funeral was your final one. It was completely unexpected but will be a lasting memory of the truly personal and genuine care each of you provided.

“You’re probably reading this because you have a loved one (or loved ones) needing help staying in their own home. Safety is a concern. Respect is a concern. Health and meds and physical care are concerns. Perhaps companionship and mental stimulation are concerns. Perhaps there have been falls. Perhaps there have been medical crises and trips to the ER in ambulances. Perhaps you fear those 2 AM phone calls. You wonder about nursing homes or assisted living as an option, but don’t know how you’ll know when it’s time to get help or move or move-in.
Fortunately for me and my parents, I ran into a friend last spring who asked me how my folks were doing and immediately shared her experiences with Dave and Lisa at Home Helpers and how they took care of her mom. She gave me their phone number. I called them. Thank heavens.
Three months ago, Dave and Lisa came to my parents’ home to do their assessment. Home Helpers is a national franchise; this married couple make their own home in the area and have their office down on Four Corners. They understand love of community and they know the people in our lake country. Dave had the business/financial answers, and Lisa has decades of experience in geriatrics and PT. They asked questions. They listened. They observed with years of knowing what to see and hear, and what to look for that was unseen and unsaid. They were gracious and funny and kind and reassuring. Within a half-hour, I saw they had dispelled much of the initial resistance that my parents had to the idea of home help. Even all that would not have been enough, but it was Dave and Lisa’s experienced understanding of what my parents wanted and needed (and just as importantly, didn’t want and THOUGHT they didn’t need) combined with Home Helpers’ ability to make that happen as soon as we said “GO.” We said GO.
Again, thank heavens we did, and thank heavens for Katelyn. My parents’ home health case supervisor, Katelyn, is a joyful whirlwind, devoted and conscientious. I have tapped her many times for her medical knowledge and geriatric trends, and she will always answer honestly. She warns me that sometimes, it’ll get worse before it gets better, and she’s right. She is my pair of eyes and ears when I’m not there, contacting me immediately with any issues or concerns. She explains new developments and suggests solutions. She is level and firm. My parents trust and love her. Her work ethic is amazing. Her strength is amazing. Her patience with me AND my parents is amazing. If a new helper is sent in on any given night, Katelyn is usually the one who comes in with her to introduce her to my parents and personally show her the ropes. Any night that Katelyn shows up at the door, my parents both light up.
Home Helpers schedules the caregivers a week out, so my parents always have a list of who is coming on which nights. This is very helpful. I am also sent that schedule on my computer. On a few nights, where we had to change the timeframe or Home Helpers had a medical emergency elsewhere and had to send someone else, they always worked with us to make sure we were covered. There is no question too small. They get back to us immediately with any questions we have.
All the workers show up on time and know what to do. The kind of person that goes into this career—it’s truly a calling. With my parents’ caregivers, there is a variety of ages and years of experience; Dad has commented on how even the younger ones are so mature and so efficient. He enjoys their cheerful energy and kindness and they tease him right back—which makes the in-home health help situation much happier than either of my parents could have anticipated. Mom told me exactly what she wanted to say in this review: “We are so blessed to be under the care of Home Helpers.” This, from my mother, the woman who for almost all of her ninety years has always been the one who gives, who lives to help others—she is accepting the fact that she and Dad are still together in their own home because of Home Helpers.
If you’re reading this, you might be where we were three months ago. This is all new, uncharted territory for us, this aging thing. How to help, how to accept help, how to love enough, how to know whether or not you’re doing the right thing. How to keep them safe. And happy.

My dad is 35 mentally but physically he cannot walk 10 steps without losing his breath. Around summer, we knew we needed a greater level of support in their assisted living community. Home Helpers sends in a caregiver 7 days a week, 12 hours a day to help maintain my parents’ apartment, offer companionship, provide personal support such as dressing and showering, and create different levels of activities for them. They all do such a great job in helping them get through their day and we have become very dependent on them very quickly. They provide just the right caregivers’ and that isn’t always easy to schedule, as we need them 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. We did interview several agencies in the area, but what made our decision is having Tim and Laura. Tim is extremely dedicated and provides just the right customer experience and Laura is a registered nurse who provides another perspective to my parents’ care. We are treated like we are part of their family and they are there for us every step of the way. The level of service exceeds our expectations!”
