Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

I’ve Never Had a Caregiver. How Does It Work?

The caregivers are there so that you can remain independent in your home. We will develop a “care plan” together. The caregivers will carry out the plan. Will they be preparing meals, taking you to appointments, doing light housework or simply providing companionship? It’s up to you and it can change whenever you want it to!

What Happens If I Don’t Like the Caregiver?

Although we strive for a perfect fit every time, there are situations where the client/caregiver relationship fails to develop as expected. You can change caregivers at any time.

Am I Required to Commit to a Minimum Number of Hours Per Day or Per Week?

We recommend a minimum shift of four hours and at least 20 hours per week. We do our best to be flexible and work with your scheduling needs, but we have found that this is the best way to ensure you have a consistent caregiver who becomes familiar with you and your routine. Having a consistent caregiver is important to many of our clients, as it provides familiarity, comfort, and continuity of care. If having the same caregiver is not a priority for you, we can certainly look at other scheduling options and work with you to find an arrangement that best meets your needs.

Will I Have the Same Caregiver Each Time?

The number of caregivers assigned to you will depend on the number of care hours you need. If you need care 7 days per week, for a few hours each day, we will assign you 1 or 2 caregivers who will be your “regular” aides. If several hours of care are required per day, there will probably be 3-4 regular caregivers on your “team”. Consistency and continuity of care is one of our highest priorities.

Are Your Services Available in Retirement Communities, Nursing Homes, and Assisted Living Facilities?

Absolutely! We provide care anywhere it is needed.

Will the Caregivers Eat My Food?

No, they bring their own snacks and meals.

Do You Have Live-In Caregivers?

While we do provide 24-hour care, we do not typically provide a traditional “live-in” caregiver. Instead, we generally schedule two caregivers in 12-hour shifts to provide continuous coverage. This approach ensures that the overnight caregiver is rested and ready to provide the care and assistance needed throughout the night. It also helps us provide consistent, reliable care while making sure the caregiver is able to safely and effectively meet the client’s needs.

Who Pays the Caregivers?

The caregivers are our employees and we are solely responsible for paying for their services. We also pay all payroll taxes, unemployment insurance and Workers Compensation insurance.

How Often Do You Bill Me?

We bill weekly in arrears, meaning you are billed for the care provided during the previous week. Our billing week runs from Sunday through Saturday. Each Monday, we will send you an invoice for the services provided during the prior week. Payment is then processed the following Wednesday, either by credit card or ACH, depending on your preferred payment method. This schedule keeps billing consistent and makes it easy for you to know when to expect your invoice and payment to be processed. If you have long-term care insurance, we will submit claims on your behalf.

Does It Cost Anything to Set Up an Introductory Meeting With You?

No! There is never a charge to have us come out and meet you. It is important for you to meet us face-to-face in order to feel confident in our ability to provide care for you or your loved one
