AGING AND DISABILITY RESOURCE CENTER MILWAUKEE

One of the most helpful resources for individuals and families with questions regarding supportive services for aging Americans and Americans with disabilities are the county-based Aging and Disability Resource Centers. They are truly the repository of all resources in the community for seniors and people with disabilities. Below is some information and a website link to each of the four ADRC’s in the Greater Milwaukee area.

• The Ozaukee County Aging & Disability Resource Center (ADRC) is governed by the people it serves. We strive to support consumer choice through the provision of information and assistance and through options counseling. We provide consumers with the tools they need to make informed decisions in order to maintain as much control over their lives as possible. Our mission is to provide a one-stop source of information and assistance for older adults, adults with disabilities, their families, friends, and caregivers by advocating for and linking them with resources and services that enable them to live as independently as possible.

• The Washington County Aging & Disability Resource Center (ADRC) is a place where information, assistance, and access to services and community resources is in one central place for seniors and adults with physical and developmental disabilities. Adults with mental health and/or substance abuse issues can be connected to assistance through other resources, including the ADRC. Family members, friends, neighbors, caregivers, doctors, and other professionals can also receive information through the ADRC to assist them in their work with seniors and disabled adults. This assistance can be provided at the ADRC, over the phone, or during a visit to an individual’s home. These services are available to Washington residents regardless of income or health status with no cost to the individual.

• The Milwaukee County Aging and Disability Resource Centers (ADRCs) are the first place to go to get accurate, unbiased information on all aspects of life related to aging or living with a disability. ADRCs are friendly, welcoming places where anyone – individuals, concerned families or friends, or professionals working with issues related to aging or disabilities – can go for information tailored to their situation. The Milwaukee ADRC provides information on broad range of programs and services, helps people understand the various long term care options available to them, helps people apply for programs and benefits, and serves as the access point for publicly-funded long term care. These services can be provided at the ADRC, via telephone, or through a home visit, whichever is more convenient to the individual seeking help.

• The Waukesha County Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) is a single access point for publicly funded long term care in Waukesha County. The ADRC provides information, assistance, counseling and supportive services for older adults age 60 and above; caregivers; adults with physical or developmental disabilities; and adults with mental health or substance abuse concerns.
