Maintaining hygiene is essential for reducing health risks and preserving mental well-being. Our personal care services include comprehensive support in tasks that ensure optimum hygiene, such as assistance with brushing teeth, bathing, and bathroom routines. A personal care assistant from Home Helpers offers help with personal care services in a manner that emphasizes comfort and safety. Physical movement is crucial for sustaining senior health, as it improves blood circulation and minimizes muscle stiffness, reducing the risk of falls. Effective personal care services make certain that seniors remain mobile and active. Our personal care assistant provides support by assisting with movement from room to room, accompanying clients on walks, or navigating challenging areas within the home such as stairs. In addition, they offer advice on how to adapt the living space to better suit the senior’s mobility level. By doing so, Home Helpers not only encourage independence but also empower seniors to pursue the activities they love, reinforcing a safe environment that nurtures physical health.
In addition to daily support, Home Helpers offers innovative safety measures with our Direct Link® monitoring services. This service is designed to detect falls and automatically contact emergency services if needed. By integrating personal care assistant expertise with modern technology, our personal care services ensure that seniors receive timely help during critical moments. This dual approach strengthens the overall care plan, providing both proactive assistance and rapid response in emergencies. See Why Families Trust Us
My sister and I have been navigating our Mom's dementia/healthcare for the last several months. At the end of February 2025 Mom had just been discharged from the hospital and I had come up from my home in NC to visit her and help make her transition home. My stepfather ordered a number of assistive devices and assured us that he'd take care of Mom but, unfortunately, that did not happen. After several days of noncommunication, my stepfather consented to allow us to arrange a home health nurse to assist him 2-3 days/week. I called to get a listing of agencies and Home Helpers Home Care came up first in my search...and the agency name resonated with me. I reached Catherine Dickson, VP of Operations, and found her to be incredibly helpful and understanding of my efforts to arrange home healthcare there on Long Island, despite me residing out-of-state. Moreover, I shared with Catherine that our Mom is extremely sensitive to the voice of an individual and needed a nurse with an extremely soothing/sensitive voice and demeanor. She arranged for Sarah Remy to begin that Monday morning, March 10th at 11AM, the day and time agreed upon by my stepfather. Shortly after 11 I received a call from Catherine who stated that when Sarah arrived at Mom's residence, she was sitting in a urine/feces-soaked diaper/couch in a catatonic state and barely breathing and that they called 9-1-1! We were in shock that Mom was found in that state, but incredibly grateful to Sarah for her communication with her home office and for staying until EMS workers arrived at the apartment to transport Mom to the hospital. Several times that day, and several days, weeks, and months thereafter, Catherine has called to check on Mom's status. I have been incredibly thankful for the level of service/care they provided on March 10th, as well as their willingness to provide assistance and/or information regarding care. It has been an emotional road the last few months as Mom fought for her life, but she is now in a rehabilitation center with a daily care that gives my sister and me a peace of mind. I cannot say enough to express our gratitude for the level of care and authenticity that the staff of Home Helper's Home Care has provided even beyond that horrific day...they were lifesavers for our family...literally!
