A fall is one of the fastest ways an aging parent’s independence gets put at risk. Most falls happen at home, during ordinary moments like getting out of bed, standing up from a chair, or walking to the bathroom at night. Home Helpers Home Care of Freehold works with families across Monmouth, Ocean, Mercer, and Burlington Counties to reduce fall risk before it turns into a hospital visit.
More than one in four adults age 65 and older falls each year according to the National Council on Aging (NCOA).
Every care plan starts with identifying where a fall is most likely to happen and building support around it.
Every care plan is built around fall risk from day one. Care begins with a Free In-Home Care Consultation, followed by an RN Clinical Assessment once a family decides to move forward. The RN reviews mobility, medications, and home layout to build a Cared-4 Care Plan that addresses specific fall risk factors before care begins.
Caregivers work under the supervision of our RN field nurse supervisors throughout every case. If a client’s mobility or condition changes, the care plan adjusts with it.
If any of the following sound familiar, a conversation now can prevent a crisis later.

Fall prevention often overlaps with recovery and chronic condition support.
What is fall prevention care?
Fall prevention care is in-home support focused on reducing the risk of a fall before it happens. A caregiver helps with mobility, transfers, personal care, and home safety, while our RN field nurse supervisors monitor changes in condition and adjust the care plan as needed.
How does a caregiver help prevent falls at home?
Caregivers provide hands-on support with standing, walking, and transfers, assist with bathing and dressing where falls commonly happen, help identify and reduce hazards around the home, and provide medication reminders for medications that can affect balance.
Does insurance cover fall prevention home care?
Coverage depends on the family’s specific plan. Home Helpers Home Care of Freehold is a VA Community Care Network authorized provider and a Medicare GUIDE Program participating provider, which may help cover costs for eligible veterans and families managing dementia-related care. Long-term care insurance may also apply. Contact our office to review your specific coverage options.
What home safety changes reduce fall risk?
Common changes include removing loose rugs, improving lighting in hallways and stairwells, installing grab bars in the bathroom, clearing walkways of clutter, and keeping frequently used items within easy reach. During your Free In-Home Care Consultation, we can walk through your loved one’s home and point out specific risks.
How quickly can fall prevention care start?
Most families begin care within a few days of their Free In-Home Care Consultation.
