Joshua Kitterman is the Owner and President of Home Helpers Home Care of East Peoria, proudly serving clients and families throughout the Greater Peoria area since August 2022. With caregiving deeply rooted in his family, Joshua’s journey into home care was both personal and purposeful.

Home care runs in Joshua’s family. After retiring, his mother worked as a caregiver for six years before caring for his grandmother. His mother-in-law successfully owned and operated a Home Helpers location for more than 15 years, and his wife has dedicated over 15 years to caring for individuals in multiple capacities. Through witnessing firsthand the profound impact quality home care has on clients and their families, Joshua knew he wanted to bring that same level of care and service to central Illinois.

Joshua chose the Home Helpers franchise because of its comprehensive care approach, allowing families to receive well-rounded, coordinated support that promotes independence and dignity. His leadership style is rooted in leading by example and using positive reinforcement to empower his team. Each caregiver completes annual continuing education, and the agency’s Lead Caregiver Program provides hands-on training and mentorship to continuously elevate care standards.

Tania joined Home Helpers Home Care of East Peoria in August 2024 as a Client Care Manager, bringing more than five years of professional caregiving experience along with a lifelong passion for serving others. Prior to working in home care, she spent over 15 years in the loans and collections industry, developing strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills that now help her excel in supporting clients and families.

Tania’s heart for caregiving began at age 16 when her family welcomed her grandmother, who had Parkinson’s disease, into their home. Helping care for her during that time was both meaningful and rewarding, especially since her grandmother had been one of her primary caregivers growing up. That experience shaped her belief that home is often the best place for healing, comfort, and overall well-being.

As Client Care Manager, Tania meets with prospective clients and families to guide them through how Home Helpers can support their goal of remaining safely at home. She is known for her ability to manage multiple responsibilities while remembering each client’s unique preferences—allowing her to thoughtfully match caregivers and create strong, supportive relationships. She maintains regular communication with caregivers, clients, and families, actively listens to concerns, and addresses questions promptly to ensure everyone feels supported.

With specialized dementia training and a strong belief in treating every client and home with dignity and respect, Tania is committed to keeping clients happy, safe, and secure. She wants families to know they are never alone and that she will always approach their concerns with kindness and compassion. True to her personal motto—“Be kind, everyone is fighting a battle that you may not know about”—Tania strives to create a space where clients feel comfortable expressing themselves without fear of judgment.

A Peoria native, Tania enjoys spending time with her family and friends, attending stock car races and concerts, and sketching and drawing. She is also the proud owner of a 13-year-old cat named Midnight, who has a unique love for salads. Most importantly, Tania brings warmth and humor to her role and promises to always try to make clients smile—even if it means making a fool of herself along the way.

For Tania, being part of the Home Helpers team means helping clients remain independent in their homes while giving families the support and reassurance they deserve.

Shelley joined Home Helpers Home Care of East Peoria in December 2023 as a Caregiver and moved into the Hiring Manager role in August 2024, bringing over a decade of healthcare experience to the team. Her background includes work in healthcare administration, phlebotomy, medical assisting, and hands-on caregiving. With specialized training in phlebotomy, dementia care, and patient safety, Shelley understands both the clinical and compassionate sides of quality care.

Shelley was drawn to home care after working in healthcare environments where there was limited one-on-one interaction with patients. She realized her passion lies in building meaningful connections and making a direct impact in people’s lives. Today, she channels that passion into recruiting and hiring caregivers who treat clients with the respect and dignity they deserve.

In her role, Shelley is responsible for interviewing, hiring, and helping ensure shifts are covered—always working diligently to match families with quality caregivers. She is motivated by a deep desire to provide peace of mind to clients and their loved ones. Shelley also offers strong support and understanding to caregivers, recognizing that caregiving can be both rewarding and challenging.

Known for her upbeat attitude, patience, and personable nature, Shelley values life in all its stages and believes that compassionate care makes all the difference. She wants families to know that she works hard to find caregivers who will not only provide excellent care but also build trusting relationships.

Shelley currently lives in the Bloomington-Normal area and enjoys spending time outdoors, especially kayaking with her dog. In her free time, she appreciates the opportunity to relax and recharge. A fun fact about Shelley—she previously participated in autocross racing. Guided by her personal motto, “Be still and know that I am the Lord, your God,” she brings steadiness and heart to everything she does.
