Dr. Sherian Wilmot-Carter DNP, FNP-C

Owner

I’m Dr. Sherian Wilmot-Carter DNP, FNP-C, the local owner and operator of Home Helpers Home Care here in Washington, Pennsylvania. As a Doctor of Nursing Practice and an entrepreneur, I launched this business to make a difference in my community and continue to care for the seniors in the region.

Born and raised in Jamaica, I was inspired by my community’s passion for care and wellness. I began my career in healthcare as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), where I developed a deep appreciation for patient-centered care and the impact of compassion in healing. Driven by a commitment to expanding my knowledge and skills, I pursued further education, earning my Bachelor of Science in Nursing, then my master’s degree in nursing to become a Family Nurse Practitioner, and later a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree with a focus in Family Medicine.

Throughout the years of trying to keep my patients at optimal health, I noticed a lot of barriers to how much I could really help them live their best lives. Home Helpers allows seniors – and those needing recuperative care – to feel valued and independent. With the right caregiver and a customized care plan, our clients can thrive in their own environments without having to go to a long-term care or nursing facility. We’re all getting older every day and I’m building a company that I would want to take care of me someday.

My career embodies dedication to the well-being of the senior community. I am passionate about caring for older people – they need someone who respects them to understand their needs to make sure they are getting the right kind of care to help them live safely and independently wherever they call home.
