When you’re looking for a caregiver for yourself or a loved one, the decisions you have to make can be daunting. At Home Helpers, we focus on helping families care for their loved ones so they can focus on spending quality time together – not just being full-time caregivers. Home Helpers’ full-range of home care services empower clients to live healthier and more rewarding lives in the privacy, safety and comfort of their own homes or wherever they call home.
We’re John and Laura Deister and we own Home Helpers of St. Louis. At Home Helpers, we specialize in providing comprehensive home care for seniors, new mothers, families with disabled children, and individuals needing recuperative and continuing assistance. We also offer Direct Link, our proprietary line of 24/7 medical alert systems, including a fall sensor with GPS locator and an automated medication dispenser. Home Helpers of Saint Louis serves St. Charles, Cottleville, Defiance, O’Fallon, Pacific, Chesterfield, Wildwood, St. Albans, Valley Park, Eureka and Fenton in Missouri.
Home Helpers of St. Louis offers free in-home consultations and works with each client to create a flexible, affordable care plan based on a person’s individual needs. Services offered include personal care such as grooming, bathing, ambulation, medication management and care management as well as respite care, meal preparation, laundry, light housekeeping, companionship and transportation. We are looking forward to learning about you and your family and to working together to see how Home Helpers can make your life easier.
    About Laura
I have a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Dayton and was working in corn transformation out of college, but I decided to leave the workforce when John and I found out we were expecting triplet daughters. After helping care for multiple family members, I found that I had a passion for caregiving and I decided to go into caregiving as a career. After three years working for another company, I inspired John to leave his job and find a home care franchise we could bring to this community. We wanted to open a new company that would be an excellent resource for people who need care and their families as well as a great employer for the best caregivers in the area.
It is our priority to find the best caregivers for each client and then help our caregivers prepare for each client and situation. Unlike other home care agencies, we have individual training opportunities for our staff. We also introduce our caregivers to our clients on the first day to make sure everyone is comfortable and to ensure that the caregiver/client match we’ve made is a good one. It’s important to me that we find the right caregiver for each client and the right client for each caregiver. That’s part of what sets us apart.
    About John
Prior to opening Home Helpers, I spent 27 years in software development, including 10 years as an executive leader of a global software development team. As my career progressed, I found myself looking for new challenges and opportunities, including the desire to open my own business. Laura was working as a caregiver and her experiences inspired me to look at in-home care franchises.
I could see the care and compassion Laura was bringing to her clients and how much they valued her service, but I could also see the challenges caregivers and clients were facing when trying to work with other agencies. That made me realize there was an opportunity to open a different kind of in-home care company that would support caregivers and clients at a higher level and work with them to provide the best possible care. That’s what we work toward every day at Home Helpers. It’s all about making life easier for our clients and their families.
