We are Clarice Wood and Joyce Campbell, the local owners of Home Helpers Home Care of Olney, and we are here to provide Care, Comfort and Compassion to people who need care for themselves or their loved ones. Whether it is a senior, a new mother, a veteran, an adult with incapacities living alone, or someone who could use help, we want to provide services that enable our neighbors to live safely, comfortably and independently.
Home Helpers Home Care offers the industry’s leading model for comprehensive care with its unique program, Cared-4SM, which provides the four necessary components to independent living. This includes Personal Care & Companionship, Nutrition & Meal Planning, 24/7 Emergency Response, and Wellness Calls to ensure a customized plan tailored to fit the individual’s and/or family’s needs.
The Home Helpers Home Care solution also provides families peace of mind and respite. Families looking for dependable caregivers who are fully trained, background-checked, and insured can call Home Helpers for a free in-home consultation to determine the level of care for their loved ones. Home Helpers will also perform an in-home safety assessment before start of care. Home Helpers’ management and staff follow the strict CDC guidelines to protect your loved ones during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Here is a little more about us:
Clarice Wood: Before Home Helpers, my career was in banking and finance – I started my banking career in retail, progressing through trust and private banking to commercial banking. I left my Associate Treasurer’s position with the District of Columbia government to start Home Helpers. Professionally, I was seeking a new opportunity. I understand the challenges of caring for an older adult.
My mom lived independently at home until age 94 needing only caregiver assistance, but falls and progressive dementia required graduation to assisted living and eventual 24/7 care. I felt empowered to find a way to improve the quality of life for both the families and individuals seeking appropriate arrangements for outside help and support. In addition to the support from Home Helpers, I feel I’ve gotten an ‘on-the-job’ education to help families balance the options and find ways to help their loved ones maximize their lives
Joyce Campbell: Prior to opening Home Helpers, I worked in Information Technology, first for IBM and then for GEICO. For the last 24 years, I have held management positions, which gave me an opportunity to focus mainly on people, providing coaching and growth opportunities for my teams. After the experience with my grandmother and witnessing how life can be in a nursing home, my Mom asked that we not put her in a nursing home when she couldn’t live on her own. With help from my siblings, we were able to keep her in her own home which did come with a few challenges. Clarice and I have seen both sides of the story and we know how challenging it can be to care for your loved ones, whether they are living independently, with family or in an assisted living facility. I am looking forward to helping families navigate thru through the challenges of caring for their loved ones, whether they need respite care a few hours a week or full-time care.
In addition to our individual experiences, we are also both members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., a public service sorority, where community service is a top priority. We are looking forward to creating partnerships and helping you and your loved ones live your best lives.
