Today was the For Pete’s Sake Cancer Foundation Walk (https://takeabreakfromcancer.org/) at Citizens Bank Park. This is the signature event for this charity, and this year set a record for attendance with over 2,200 participants and hundreds of volunteers! The weather was perfect for those walking in memory of a loved one lost to cancer, someone who is currently battling with the disease, or someone who has recovered. The goal is to raise funds so that future families battling a cancer diagnosis can go on a respite trip or staycation. “We walk so that families facing cancer never have to walk alone,” says founder Marci Schankweiler. Feeling the love and support of the community is her main objective for everyone attending. Special thanks go to the Philadelphia Phillies for their hospitality in support of this event. Home Helpers co-owner, Frank Esterle, volunteered to support the event, along with his wife Donna, who works at For Pete’s Sake.
