Kayla runs the show for our caregivers with a bright smile and a can do attitude.
An industry expert with more than 30 years of successful experience in Health Care Services, Lisa Hmiel has a proven ability to foster relationships by making lives easier while providing care for those in need.
Lisa is a very social individual who loves being around people. Helping people brings her joy, whether she meets them through church, another business or walking down the street. She is outgoing, happy, and has a big heart – and she takes care to instill each and every one of those values into the home care that she provides.
She began her career as a young girl. Since her parents owned nursing homes, she use to go to the center after school and ride on the floor polishers. Gradually, she became aware that some people in need of care could not afford a nursing home. After working at the nursing home for over 30 years, Lisa recognized there was a demand for affordable care for elderly loved ones.
In 2010, Lisa’s firstborn son, Shane (a professional racecar driver), was involved in an accident that left him paralyzed. She stopped working in order to care for him. It was, and still is, a long process of gradual improvement, but Shane is doing better each day. Lisa’s husband, Steve, has since retired to assist with Shane’s care.
In 2013, Lisa realized how hard it was for others to find help for their loved ones. Many people she met were in the same predicament. That is when she decided it was time to start her own home care agency. Home Helpers of South Guilford was then established.
Lisa knows that people hire people, not resumes. To ensure a complete match, Lisa extensively interviews both families and potential caregivers to find out who they are and what they are looking for – as each family has various needs.
She feels most rewarded when helping people live life to the fullest. Lisa’s vision and ability to nurture relationships lead to long-term solutions, success and improved quality of life.
