Ella (Lucille) Claver-Baldwin
“Healthcare is for heroes”. We have seen this noble act during this pandemic and we shall see more of them everyday as they care for their loved ones.
I obtained my degree in the Administration of Justice in 2006, and simultaneously earned my Liberal Arts in 2008 at the University of Hawaii system. While pursuing my education, I juggled jobs in the morning, and a caregiver during the night for my late husband as he struggled with COPD and Emphysema for six (6) long years. This experience gave me a deeper understanding and inspiration to choose healthcare. A career in health care is highly rewarding as it allows you to use your loving nature and problem solving skills to create a “personalized” approach for an individual you care.
Professionally, I managed a healthcare training program for more than 16 years while also working as the Operations Manager for a home care agency in Hawaii. Having been in this field, I saw the importance of Care giving and the need in the community.
After relocating to live with family in MA, I decided to bring my passion to fruition in Bristol County. I have chosen Home Helpers as I believe it would be the best fit for me, and for the community.
Home Helpers is a leader in the home care field and the franchise system gives me the opportunity to hit the ground running immediately, with the support of the national team.
I am looking forward to offering people in our community the kind and care I’d expect for my own loved ones. With the uncertain times, I want to know that the people in our community can turn to Home Helpers as their needs change, and where caring heroes dare.
I am Norea, a State registered nurse (RN), and in my career, I have been working with private agencies and government. Taking care of the sick and with care needs strengthened my practice of being patient, caring and helping in any way. Caregiving has also been a part of my life starting with my family. I also worked in other countries which gave me additional experiences in dealing with care needs. I believe that loving what you do matters and its powerful impact to clients and their families. It is my nature to help in my capacity making sure my clients will receive quality care through my honed communication and nursing skills.
Home Helpers, as the name implies, makes life easier for families. We care like family.
Working with people of different cultural backgrounds as a human resource practitioner for a decade has been challenging and motivating, especially in the home care sector.
I hold a master’s degree in human resources and management, bachelor’s degree in social sciences (Economics and History), and two years in Juris Doctor. Learning and unlearning for eight years in the Education sector (licensed) both home and abroad and 13 years in the public sector in the Philippines where I obtained a Career Executive Service Eligibility (CESE), provided me a solid foundation on the current job I have with Home Helpers of Bristol County, MA.
Once a caregiver to my relatives, I firmly believe that dealing with life is central to what we do. Thus, putting square pegs in round holes is not an option – a caregiver must match the unique client complemented with compassionate care. Respect begets respect; professionally collaborating with clients and their family members, caregivers, the community, agencies, and colleagues nurtures positive care results.
At Home Helpers, we are always happy and ready to serve to make life easier for our clients in the comfort of wherever they call home.
Providing help to people with care needs has been a very rewarding experience. I was then an assistant manager in retail before taking part time caregiving job to a dementia client in 2006. From thereon, my passion in helping others with their Activities of Daily Living (ADL) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL) propelled my caregiving career.
I have worked with mentally challenged individuals in different capacities. I was an instructor at Cooperative Productions, Inc. where I learned how to deal with different people with unique needs and situations. Working as a private caregiver and caregiver to relatives instilled in me the value of empathy. Empathy is important even in communicating with clients over the phone or in person. Since 2023, I worked with Home Helpers of Bristol County providing respite care to different clients.
I truly believe that I can use my values, passion, and experiences to effectively communicate, collaborate, and empathize with clients in providing the right care needs making life easier for them.
