Our Comprehensive Caregiver Screening Process
At Home Helpers Home Care of Bradenton, we understand that choosing the right caregivers is crucial to providing exceptional home care. That’s why we have implemented a thorough screening process to ensure we hire only the most qualified and trustworthy caregivers.
- In-Person Interviews: Unlike some organizations that rely solely on phone or Zoom interviews, we conduct both phone interviews and in-person interviews at our office. This face-to-face interaction allows us to ensure a good fit with our agency’s culture.
- Level 2 Background Screening: We conduct a Level 2 background screening for all staff, as required by the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA). This includes a fingerprint-based search of records maintained by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, an FBI criminal history search, and county criminal record checks. We are promptly notified of any criminal activity during the course of employment through the AHCA clearinghouse.
- OIG Exclusion Checks: We regularly check the Office of Inspector General’s (OIG) Exclusions database to ensure that our caregivers are not excluded from federally funded health care programs.
- Qualifications and Experience: We only hire experienced caregivers, including licensed CNAs or home health aides with at least 40 hours of home health aide training or those who pass a state-mandated test. The test includes both written and practical components, with the practical component administered by our registered nurse.
- Motor Vehicle History Records: We have strict driving requirements and check motor vehicle history records annually to ensure our caregivers meet our high standards.
- Reference Checks: We contact three references for each candidate before making any employment decisions.
- Employment Verification: Verifying a candidate’s past employment history is also a crucial part of our screening process.
