A New Caring Partnership for Military Families

The Caring Corner Blog

For several years now, we’ve cultivated relationships with veterans: as franchise business owners, management professionals and as Caregivers. Across our network, Home Helpers® Home Care has witnessed up-close how their commitment to service and the values of teamwork and dedication to duty are the same qualities that foster success as Caregivers.

Those same qualities are no less prevalent among the families of our service members. And while their service is not as often noted by most of the public, the sacrifices that military families make through training, deployments and too-frequent relocations are just as real. That is why we’ve expanded our outreach to include the families of those currently serving.

Emma Dickison MSEPEarlier this week, I was in Washington, D.C., as Home Helpers was formally inducted in the Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP). MSEP was created in response to a growing readiness issue. Military spouses have a 25 percent unemployment rate and a 23 percent wage gap compared to their civilian counterparts. The inability of spouses to obtain and retain fulfilling employment as they relocate compromises the quality of life of many military families.

But it’s not just military families that benefit from our partnership. This relationship will help our entire network recruit and retain highly educated and devoted professionals in many different roles. And because the knowledge and skills are transferable among Home Helpers locations, we expect that military spouses will experience some added career stability through duty station transfers.

We’re honored to be a part of MSEP, because we know the professionalism of military families. We also know that veterans and military family members are among our most reliable Caregivers and some of our most successful franchise owners.

If you are a veteran or military dependent interested in career opportunities, or if you know a military spouse in the market, we encourage you to learn more about Home Helpers by visiting our dedicated page.
