Our Story

We are Kurt and Staci Fiechter, owners of Home Helpers Home Care of Muncie, IN. This is our family. It’s grown and changed over the years, including in 2020, when Kurt’s grandfather, Carl, moved in with us.

Carl had the early stages of dementia and was living in a nursing home when it closed to visitors due to Covid restrictions. Without in-person connection, he started declining fast. His kids weren’t willing to lose the months they still had with him while he still knew who they were, so we moved him into our home. Caregivers were hired to help support him, and for the first time, we experienced what it feels like to hand someone you love over to a stranger’s care. It changed how we saw home care entirely. Needing help with everyday life is hard enough. Needing it while your mind is failing you is harder still. And that vulnerability deserves more than just a checklist. It deserves dignity and a lot of compassion.

That experience led us to Home Helpers of Muncie. We saw how difficult it can be to find reliable care, and how meaningful it is when caregivers see their work as a calling, not just a job. We built our business around that difference. Our team works hard to ensure no shift goes unfilled, because families deserve dependable care. We are also intentional about who we hire: our CarePros are not only qualified, but genuinely compassionate, and that is what makes all the difference for the families we serve.
