Dave Saty Yond is the Owner and Administrator of Home Helpers Home Care of Fredericksburg, VA. A retired U.S. Army veteran with more than 20 years of service, Dave brings a lifetime of leadership, resilience, and commitment to serving others to his work in home care.

Born in Liberia, Dave experienced the devastating impact of the Liberian Civil War before immigrating to the United States. His journey shaped a deep appreciation for family, compassion, and the importance of helping people through life’s most difficult moments. During his military career, he developed a strong foundation in accountability, teamwork, and service—values that continue to guide his leadership today.

Dave’s professional background includes healthcare operations, cybersecurity, and business leadership. His personal experiences caring for family members, together with his previous involvement in residential care, strengthened his belief that every individual deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and compassion.

As a veteran-owned and locally operated agency, Home Helpers Home Care of Fredericksburg reflects Dave’s commitment to helping seniors, veterans, adults with disabilities, and others remain safe, independent, and comfortable in their own homes. Dr. Mary Wanjiru Murigi, PhD, MPH, BSN, RN, serves as a Supervisory Registered Nurse with Home Helpers Home Care of Fredericksburg, VA. She brings a distinguished background in nursing education, clinical practice, public health, and patient-centered care to the agency.

Dr. Murigi holds a PhD in Nursing Sciences, a Master of Public Health with a concentration in Reproductive Health, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She is a Virginia-licensed Registered Nurse with extensive experience in clinical education, nursing leadership, and healthcare research.

In addition to her role with Home Helpers, Dr. Murigi is an Assistant Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Nursing, where she teaches, mentors nursing students, and provides clinical supervision. Her academic career includes curriculum development, nursing leadership, clinical education, and research. She has also served as a Visiting Professor at Chamberlain University.

Her clinical background includes experience in acute stroke and rehabilitation care at Encompass Health and Rehabilitation Hospital in Fredericksburg, as well as labor and delivery and high-risk perinatal nursing at Inova Fairfax Hospital. Her rehabilitation experience includes individualized care planning, patient and family education, and supporting patients in maximizing functional independence and quality of life.

Her nursing expertise and dedication to education help guide care assessments, individualized care planning, and caregiver support, while promoting dignity, independence, and the well-being of the individuals and families we serve.
