[Jonathan] Thinking about chiropractic care for pain relief? Well, if you answered, “yes”, then there may be some questions that you’d like to have answered before you move forward with chiropractic care. On today’s episode of Home Helper’s Water Cooler Chat, I have with me local expert, Dr. Heather Crawford, to discuss whether or not insurance covers chiropractic care.
All right, so going to move on to the next question here. So it’s about insurance. So does insurance cover chiropractic care?
[Dr. Heather Crawford] So that completely depends on the person’s insurance coverage. There are plenty of insurances that we accept in our office that are covered. We don’t fully know someone’s benefits until they do come into our office. For example though, if it’s a straight Medicare plan, no advantage, no secondary, any of that stuff, Medicare does cover the adjustment. They unfortunately have not caught on yet that we actually need to do an exam and maybe potentially x-rays. They don’t cover those in a chiropractics office yet. But they do cover the adjustments. Typically the straight Medicare has an 80 20 policy. It’s usually about $7 and some change for an adjustment in our office. And then obviously with the secondary supplementals, we will run those benefits and be able to determine that for our potential patients so that there is a complete concise and clear rundown on those financials, as best as the insurance can give us. We all know how that can go.
What advice do you have for someone who is interested in receiving chiropractic care at Harbor Chiropractic?
We’d love to meet them, obviously. We also do free consultations in our office so it doesn’t have to be that commitment at that time. A lot of folks just wanna come in, check us out. One, make sure we’re normal human beings, which obviously, hey. But check out our office and see if this is the place for them.
