A Labor Day Salute to Family and Professional Caregivers

The Caring Corner Blog

In honor of the recent Labor Day weekend, I’d like to salute two groups of people who are central to what we do here at Home Helpers.

The first group is our staff of professional caregivers. Those whose job is helping families know what a hard day’s work feels like. They also know the satisfaction that comes from making a real difference in the lives of those they assist. Home Helpers’ trained caregivers do everything they can to make sure their clients are receiving the best care possible. Our team is working every day to alleviate the burden caused by the Caregiving Dilemma. Today, I’d like to say thank you.

The second group is the family caregivers. These are the tireless men and women who sacrifice to make sure their aging loved ones are cared for, often as they’re caring for their own children, their spouses and—when time allows—themselves.

Both professional and family caregivers know that the needs of our elderly don’t really like to take a vacation. Caregivers—whether they are formally trained or have found themselves in a caregiving situation because of a loved one’s needs—often spend holidays like Labor Day with their care receivers. An aging parent or grandparent who needs help with the tasks of daily living must rely on others to get through each day. While it’s still possible to find time to relax in between care tasks, or even to make other arrangements so that you can have a real day off, the fact is that caregiving demands a lot of energy.

So today, I want to say thank you.

To our team of professional caregivers: Thank you.

Thank you for the compassion and warmth you show while striving to help others. Thank you for dedicating your working life to the pursuit of Making Life Easier for those in need.

To the family caregivers we’ve gotten to know: Thank you.

Thank you for trusting us with those who matter most in your life. Thank you for the time and effort you put into taking care of your family, and for allowing us to assist you.

And to all of the extended Home Helpers family: We hope you have had a happy and safe Labor Day!
